BELAGAVI-BASED Aequs Foundation launched Anasuya Melligeri Science and Technology Centre, a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) centre at the government primary school, KBS no 16, in Hubballi today.
The Foundation, in partnership with Agastya International Foundation and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), launched the initiative to expand STEM education among government schoolchildren.
The Centre endeavours to offer less privileged students the best education through a combination of hands-on science lessons and digital activities while offering a fun and engaging way of learning and enhancing conceptual retention.
The centre will serve as a hub for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology labs. It will also have space for creative learning and innovation, and robotics, and IT will ensure that STEM education is more accessible to government school students, while also uplifting the overall state of education in the region, stated the press release.
Aequs Foundation will also provide students with free access to the centre and the various opportunities being offered. While other foundations have gone to great lengths to construct the centre to provide students with these opportunities, this one also intends to imbue the spirit of scientific and technological inquiry within them. CEO of the Aequs Foundation, Aravind Melligeri, stated, “Investing in our children in key to the future of our communities and industrial growth, and this centre offers a unique educational experience for underprivileged students.”
The centre is named in honour of my mother who understood the value of education. We look forward to continuing this project in other regions in association with Agastya International Foundation."
